Floral cooler rentals began when a florist in Redmond, a small Oregon town, wanted to put a floral case in a local grocery store but did not want to buy it until she was sure it was successful. She and John worked out the basic agreement shown below to enable her to "try before buying". Since that time we have had a large number of floral coolers rented. About 1/2 are purchased within the 6 months, about 1/3rd are turned back within the first year and the rest choose to keep on renting until John gets tired of collecting money and gives it to them! This has actually happened to 5 coolers over the years. COOLERS FOR RENT: Down payment (usually $500 on used coolers) covers move in, move out and first months rent. Monthly fee varies by size and condition of the cooler. All are floral cases, not beverage boxs. All money paid applies to purchase within 6 months except for $200. After 6 months 1/3 of everything applies. RENTAL COOLERS ARE ONLY AVAILABLE WITHIN 50 MILES OF PORTLAND/SALEM. Terms: This contract is designed as a 6 month rental with an option to buy. $500 down which covers a move in fee, a move out fee and the first months rent. Rent is $65 per month due the first of each month. Within the first 6 months: The cooler may be purchased for its listed price. We will apply all moneys paid to that point to the purchase except a "rental risk fee" of $200. It may be turned back with no penalties or fees. You may change to a different box. There may be extra fees depending on the situation. After the initial 6 month period: The cooler may be rented on a month to month basis. It may be turned back at any time with no additional cost. It may be purchased at any time for the listed price less 1/3rd of all amounts paid.  Long term rent, starting after the 13th month, is lowered to $50 per month. No consequential damages: Neither Hungerfords nor the manufacturer is responsible for economic loss; or special, indirect, or consequential damages, including, without limitation, losses or damages arising from product spoilage, as a result of refrigeration failure. We urge you to purchase business insurance which covers potential losses. We strongly recommend Florists Mutual Insurance Company (1-800-851-7740) which automatically covers every area of concern to florists, including damaged flowers due to the rare but very real potential of cooler failures.
