Hungerfords- Flower Coolers
  Home

Starting in 1926, Robert Hungerford sold tulips from his home based farm in Portland to local walk in customers. He gradually expanded to shipping to retail florists by train across the northwest and eventually became Portlands first wholesale florist.

Bob Hungerford took the reigns about 1960 and the company expanded to a 3 story location with route trucks across the region and 13 employees, selling fresh flowers, hardgoods, flower coolers, dried chinese lanterns (which Bob grew), green moss and fresh Christmas greens.

The current chief, John Hungerford, took over in 1982, just after a major shake down when the fresh flowers and hardgoods were closed out and the company re-grouped to just 2 employees- John & Bob. Happily delivering flower coolers across the northwest and growing the dried flower crop until his death in 1995, Bob Hungerford set the tone of innovation for his son John.

Today John Hungerford concentrates on flower coolers and green moss.
